Umpiring

Our Umpiring Committee, led by the Umpiring Coordinator, plays a vital role in managing and developing umpires across the club. Working with a dedicated sub-committee, they ensure our umpires receive the training and support needed to grow in skill and confidence. From beginner umpires to experienced officials, they provide guidance and opportunities for everyone to improve.

Throughout the season, the committee runs development sessions, rules workshops, and on-court mentoring to help umpires refine their skills. They are committed to creating a supportive environment where umpires feel encouraged and valued. Their ongoing efforts help maintain high officiating standards while fostering a strong and knowledgeable umpiring team.

For our 8&Under to 10&Under grades, we encourage parents to get involved in umpiring their child’s games. This is always done with club support and is only required once or twice a season. Stepping into this role helps parents gain a better understanding of the rules and the pressures umpires face, while also promoting respect for officials.

Older junior players are also required to umpire, which not only improves their understanding of the rules and empathy for officials but also strengthens their own game awareness and decision-making skills.

Additionally, Open players are required to either umpire or source umpires for their games.

Umpires looking to achieve C or B badge accreditation should contact our Umpiring Coordinator to express their interest. We work closely with Fremantle Netball Association’s Umpiring Development Officer to provide support and opportunities for those pursuing accreditation.
